Trailblazing women in investment
Fiona’s research and findings suggests that with a greater balance of female investors we will reach an equitable and more lucrative world, which is globally critical especially post pandemic societies at large.
But the upper echelons of the investment sector are an elite space to be, and for women, it is even more elite.
Did you know women make up just a tenth of all senior roles? Furthermore, globally women occupy only 8% of those senior investment roles.
Despite the small number of women occupying this space, those who are making it there are having a significant impact:
Women can spot a growth market: Female-led sectors such as FemTech, where the founders and investors are predominantly women, is forecast to be worth $50bn by 2025.
Women deliver higher margins: Listed firms, where at least one-third of its senior team, have been found to have profit margins 10 times greater than those without (Pipeline, 2020).
Women are aligned behind ESG: ESG and impact investing is predicted to surge as consumers and investors increasingly hold companies accountable for their performance on ESG benchmarks. This market is currently 60% weighted towards women.
The challenge of boosting the numbers of women engaged is not insurmountable, and there is hope.
There are sectors where female investors are beginning to make serious inroads. And within Lightbulb Leadership’s investment network across the UK and US, we have identified the trailblazers that are helping to forge a female investment future.
